Column: And Just Like That, It’s All Over.
As the broadcast season concludes, Clark Ramsey jotted down some of his (never-ending) ramblings of what the MHSAA Tournament means to him and the community that helped to raise him.

MHSAA Regional Championship: Flint New Standard 64, Harbor Beach 56
Harbor Beach gave everything it had against New Standard Academy, but fell in the Regional Finals, 64-56 in a closely fought battle for all 32 minutes. The Pirates finish the season at 23-2 and tie the best team record in school history.

MHSAA Region 24 Semi-Finals: Harbor Beach 69, Brown City 33
Harbor Beach connected in every aspect of the game, cruising to a 36-point victory over Brown City, 69-33 in the Region 24 Semi-Finals of the MHSAA Tournament on Tuesday, March 04, 2025. The Pirates now advance to face Flint New Standard Academy (Flint Elite) on Thursday in Millington.

MHSAA District Championship: Harbor Beach 61, Lakers 52
Harbor Beach held off another motivated postseason opponent, erasing an early deficit and defeating the Lakers 61-52 on Friday, February 28, 2025. It marks the first district championship for the Pirates since 2013.

MHSAA Tournament: Lakers 62, Bad Axe 43
The Elkton Pigeon Bay Port Lakers never trailed and defended their home court to defeat the Bad Axe Hatchets by 19 points, 62-43 on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Lakers now returns to the district championship game for the first time since 2022 to face off with the Harbor Beach Pirates.

MHSAA Tournament: Harbor Beach 56, Cass City 49
The Harbor Beach Pirates survived a potential postseason upset via the offensive glass, defeating Cass City 56-49 in the District 95 Semi-Finals on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Harbor Beach now returns to the district championship to face the Elkton Pigeon Bay Port Lakers on their opponent’s home floor.

MHSAA Tournament: Cass City 67, USA 57
Four Red Hawks finished in double digits propelling Cass City past the USA Patriots in the opening round of the MHSAA Tournament, defeating Unionville-Sebewaing, 67-57 on Monday, February 24, 2025.

Lakers 57, USA 42
The Lakers may have been without their leading scorer, but you wouldn’t know it as they rolled through the USA Patriots, 57-42 on Friday, February 14, 2025. The win snapped a two-game losing streak and evened the score with USA for the season, avenging a 13-point road loss in January.

Harbor Beach 60, Millington 54
The two top teams of the Big Thumb Conference took it to the twelfth round to decide a winner and it was Harbor Beach to take the first of two regular season matchups, defeating Millington 60-54 on Monday, February 10, 2025.

Harbor Beach 57, Ubly 45
For the second time this season, Harbor Beach jumped out early against the Ubly Bearcats and never looked back, defeating their BTC-Black foe, 57-45. Sweeping Ubly this season, Harbor Beach now takes a two-game lead in the Big Thumb Conference’s Black Division standings with three league games remaining.

Bad Axe 48, Cass City 43
It was a tale of two halves with the Bad Axe Hatchets erasing a five-point halftime deficit, defeating the Cass City Red Hawks 48-43 on Friday, January 31, 2025. With the win, Bad Axe extends their win-streak to six games and remains tied for first place in the Big Thumb - White division with a big week of basketball ahead of them.

Cass City 51, Reese 42
The Cass City Red Hawks secured their fourth victory in two weeks with a 51-42 road victory against the Reese Rockets on Friday, January 24, 2025. Matt Mellendorf and Griffin Weiler led the way for Cass City, combining for 36 points.

Bad Axe 47, Lakers 45
The Lakers led through nearly the first three quarters, but it was the pesky squad of Bad Axe Hatchets that went home with the victory, 47-45 on Friday, January 17, 2025. With the win, Bad Axe remains tied for first place in the Big Thumb - White division with Millington and drops the Lakers one game back.

Harbor Beach 60, Sandusky 42
The Harbor Beach Pirates braved the roads and rolled through the Sandusky Wolves en route to a 60-42 BTC-Black victory on Friday, January 10, 2025. Benson Harper led all scorers with 24 points and surpassed 1,000 career points in just 53 games.
