The Caro Tigers used a huge third quarter to overcome a first half deficit and cruise to a 53-39 victory over the USA Patriots in the first round of the MHSAA Boys Basketball Tournament. The Patriots outscored the Tigers in the first quarter to lead 18-14, but Caro crawled their way back into the game, cutting the deficit to just three points at half and were leading by nine points by the end of the 3rd quarter, 40-31.
Caro was paced by sophomore Connor McGarry's 14 points, while USA also was led with 14 points from junior Landen Bursick.
With the victory, Caro now advances to take on the #1 seed in District 95, the Cass City Red Hawks, a team they have fallen to twice this season already. In the previous meeting, Cass City narrowly defeated Caro by just two points, 62-60 on February 02, 2024. The District Semifinal matchup takes place Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Harbor Beach High School; tip-off at 5:30pm.
